X-Country Skiing

Between too much snow and too cold temperatures, we didn't get out on our skis until yesterday. We explored some of the trails between LP Quinn School and the Wildcenter, starting from the northeast corner of the Wildcenter parking lot. It turned out the trail was better suited to snowshoes than skis because of some very steep spots. But the woods were beautiful with all the snow still on the trees, so it was a nice outing. It took a while for me to get my "ski legs" back, but I was feeling pretty sure of myself by the end of our hour-long outing.

Today we headed for Coreys and drove past the road closed signs and past the turn off for Axton Landing. The road was plowed past the parking lot for the Raquette Falls trail, which was our destination. However it was not sanded down there and I wouldn't venture that far down the road without 4-wheel drive. There were some nice ski tracks on the trail and it was great skiing; some of the best we have seen. We again only staying out for an hour since our legs weren't used to it. X-country skiing is such great exercise we figured that was enough.
