Birthdays - and Snow

This post is so I'll have something to refer to at this time next year when I can't remember who the birthday girls were. We went to a wonderful neighborhood get-together last evening. The inspiration for the party was the discovery not long ago that of the 20 adults who live on the flow full time, December 31st is the birthday of 3 of them - Nancy, Carol, and Susan. The plan was to get together for a pot-luck supper and then pile into cars and go to First Night in Saranac Lake. We enjoyed the company so much we all stayed put and had a great visit.

On the subject of snow, again. It turns out that December 2007 was the 4th snowiest December on record with about 4 feet of snow. And with a foot of snow forecast for today into tomorrow morning, January is looking to be the same. The fellow who plows our drive is already complaining that he's having trouble finding a place for all the snow. We're looking forward to snowshoeing along the lake this afternoon since we definitely won't be going anywhere in the car for a while. Hopefully there will be enough of a break in the storms that we'll be able to drive back to NJ early next week.
