Holland Ridge Farms

We had a good New Jersey day today.  This afternoon we drove to Holland Ridge Farms in Cream Ridge to ogle and pick tulips.

Then since we were out anyway, we drove all the way to Neptune to get pizza at Pete & Elda's.  We drove to nearby Memorial Park on the Shark River to eat it.

Hiking the Manasquan Trail in Turkey Swamp Park

Just a note so I can remember our latest hike.  There were quite a few wet spots we had to detour around so we walked about 3.5 miles.

Winter Comes to New Jersey

The weather seems to be making up for the lack of snow last winter.  This storm is bigger than the last one.  Hard to tell how much snow we got since there was so much blowing, but definitely over a foot.

It is hard to tell in the photo but this drift on the front walk is a couple of feet high.  It is covered with bird footprints since I have moved the feeders to the front of the house so I can see the birds from my window.

Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge

We drove the 8-mile road around the ponds at Forsythe today and saw lots of snow geese.

Quilt 69

I just finished this Christmas quilt.  It is hanging in a narrow hallway so I couldn't get far enough away to get a full width photo, but you get the idea.

Quilt 68

I love this new technique.  Buy seven panels, set one aside, and stack and whack six of them to make the kaleidoscopes.  Then surround the uncut panel for a neat effect.

Paddling with Friends

It was another beautiful day with temperature near 70.  So seven of us paddled on the Raquette River today.  We put in at the Crusher and paddled about 2 1/2 miles upstream to campsite #19 where we took a break.  Then back to the starting point.  It was great to see more of our friends while we are here.

Paddling from Second Pond to the Locks

We had a lovely paddle with friends today.  The weather was so beautiful, with sunshine and temps in the mid-60's, that we just had to get on the water.  We put in at the boat launch on Second Pond and had a leisurely paddle to the locks and back.

Hiking the Waterfalls Of the Grasse River

We are back in the Adirondacks.  We left hurriedly at the beginning of October to deal with a family tragedy.  We are here now for a couple of weeks to try to unwind before heading back to New Jersey.

Today we drove up Tooley Pond Road looking for waterfalls.  We hiked into four of them.

Copper Rock Falls

Rainbow Falls

Basford Falls

Lampsons Falls
